The Class of 1974 50-Year Reunion
Hello Fellow 1974 Sarasota High School Grads!
We hope those of you who joined us to “Celebrate the Times of your Life” at the 50-Year Reunion came away with amazing memories of our wonderful weekend together.
For those who could not join us, here’s a recap of our agenda.
Friday May 3rd, 2024
Our opening event was held at the beautiful Michael’s on East Ballroom. More than 175 were in attendance and enjoyed the chance to reconnect, share great memories, and catch up on what everyone had been up to these last 50 years! Food and beverages were delicious and bountiful, the welcome committee did an amazing job matching guests with their 1974 photo name badges, and decor was festive.

- A group of golfers enjoyed playing at the NEWLY renovated and reopened Bobby Jones Golf Club
- The Tour of Sarasota Art Museum was SOLD OUT! The FREE tour was led by Executive Director Virginia Shearer, with special guest David Stershic (class of ’74) who was the Construction Superintendent for the transformation from SHS to the spectacular Museum! David’s wife, Karen was the official photographer of the reconstruction and shared a wonderful slide presentation.
- Sarasota Yacht Club was the stunning setting for our final night together. With cocktails served Bayside, dinner in their beautiful ballroom overlooking the Marina, and a fun and fabulous show created and MC’d by our own Bubba Smith, this evening capped the weekend with wonderful memories of our time together.
The turnout for the 50-Year Reunion was incredible, in large part because we were able to make the weekend affordable, while also being able to enjoy some of Sarasota’s most beautiful venues. The Gifting Campaign was a great success with a number of our classmates coming together and helping us to reach our goal of $15,000. Many thanks to those generous contributors for benefitting everyone who attended by lowering the per person cost, and also providing a fund to assist those who would otherwise be unable to attend without financial assistance.
Stay tuned…more photos to follow!
